Project Background

Yadkin County is defined by its deep agricultural roots, rolling farmland, family operations, and strong rural lifestyle. Spanning roughly 337 square miles, the county's unincorporated areas connect our rural communities and the four local municipalities of Yadkinville, Jonesville, Boonville, and East Bend.

As growth expands across North Carolina's Piedmont region and along key travel corridors like US 421 and US 601, Yadkin County faces new opportunities and pressures for residential, commercial, and industrial development. To ensure growth happens on our community's terms, Yadkin County is updating its 2023 Land Use Plan.

This update will establish an improved Future Land Use Map and clear, practical policies to guide decision-making over the next 10 to 20 years. Our primary goal is to strike a practical balance: supporting economic growth and new housing while protecting agricultural heritage, natural resources, and quality of life.

How You Can Participate

The best plan is one built with the community. Whether you are a lifelong resident, farmer, business owner, landowner, or newcomer, your voice matters.
